After more than 1100 years of thrilling history, Prague has been developing in the last decade to a western metropolis. It is the economical, political and cultural center of the Czech Republic, and has belonged to the EU since May 1st 2004. Approximately 1.2 million people live in Prague, which represents 10% of the total population of the country. In 1920, the city was divided into 10 areas. The numeration was made in a circle, starting from the city center. Due to the constant development of the city, the number of areas was recently raised to 15.
